This week at the studio

Saturday’s milonga, Tuesday’s first class — one quiet week, all the doors open.

Seven nights of instruction on the sprung-oak floor of our riverside warehouse, the Saturday social that has run for fourteen years, and a free trial class waiting whenever you’re ready. No partner required, no long commitment — just an evening, a doorway, an embrace.

A note on levels

If you’ve never set foot on a tango floor, start at any Beginner class — they rotate and you don’t need a partner. If you have some experience and want a placement conversation, write to [email protected] with a short note about how long you’ve been dancing.

A note on studios

Salón A is our 220 sqm sprung-oak floor, designed for tango pivots. Salón B is a smaller, intimate room used for gentle and accessible sessions. Both are on the ground floor of our restored 19th-century riverside warehouse on Rua do Ouro.

Quarterly visiting masters

Three weekends, three tango traditions, one studio.

Each quarter we invite a maestro from Buenos Aires, Montevideo or Milan to teach a focused weekend. Workshops are open to improver level and above, with reserved floor time for our weekly students. Early booking is recommended — the last visiting-master weekend sold out in 9 days.

Maestra Giuliana Bertelli

2 & 3 May · Friday 19h30 + Saturday 11h00

A weekend on the embrace in close quarters — smaller space, less step vocabulary, more listening. Giuliana’s method comes from a decade of teaching in the narrow rooms of Navigli.

Before you book

The questions we hear most often.

A few short answers to the things that come up the moment someone decides to walk through our door for the first time.

What should I wear to my first class?
Comfortable clothing that lets you move — most students come in trousers or a long skirt, a t-shirt, and shoes with a smooth leather sole. Avoid rubber trainers; they grip the floor and twist the knee. If you don’t yet have tango shoes, a pair of thin-soled leather flats works perfectly.
I don’t have a partner. Can I still come?
Yes — the majority of our students arrive solo, and we rotate partners during every beginner and improver class. If you would rather not rotate, simply tell the teacher at the start of the evening; we always respect individual comfort.
Should I book a single class or a course?
Your first class is always free. After that, most improver-level students take a six-week starter course (€120, one class per week) and add a second weekly class once they find their rhythm. We also offer single drop-in classes at €18 and a 10-class card at €150 valid for four months.
In what language is instruction given?
Our resident team teaches bilingually in Portuguese and English, with Spanish on request. Visiting masters teach in their native language with live translation — we have never had a language barrier prevent a student from following a class.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Single classes can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance for a full credit on your account. Six-week courses are refundable up to the second class; after that, the remaining classes are credited to your account. Workshop and visiting-master weekends are refundable up to 7 days before the event.
